Winter and her best friend Sloane want to be part of the in-crowd, so they take drastic measures over the summer to ensure their popularity. Predictably, Sloane gets “in,” Winter doesn’t, Sloane drops Winter, Winter creates a “revenge blog” and meets a boy, Winter gets the boy.
I know Noel intends for us to root for Winter because Sloane is so obviously nasty and disloyal, but Winter is almost Sloane’s equal as far as likability. Her blog is increasingly nasty, spilling all of Sloane’s secrets to the Internet in general. Winter owes Sloane nothing, but the spitefulness of her blog makes her a fairly unlikable protagonist.
On the vast Internet, what are the odds of everyone in your high school and the neighboring middle school finding and becoming obsessed with YOUR blog, without a hint or link from you? If so many local people have stumbled across it, why doesn’t anyone have ANY clue who Winter’s talking about, when it’s pretty obvious from her online anecdotes? Not that it’s unlikely to have online activities discovered by people who know you IRL, but the likelihood of all of your acquaintances squealing, “Have you read this blog? Isn’t it the COOLEST? Aren’t you DYING to know what she’ll spill next?” seems pretty slim.

Winter and Sloane have always been the best of friends until popularity comes and takes it all away. The world of popularity has been their dream, so after they spend all summer preparing for there debut in the world of popularity Sloane makes it, while Winter doesn’t. Remembering the promise that they made to each other, Sloane trys to include Winter in activities with Jaci, Claire and herself, but Jaci and Claire make fun of Winter. Okay so pretty much Sloane and Winter are tired of being geeks so this year they are going to try to be popular and promise if one gets popular they will carry the other along. Nope once Sloane sees the good life she NEVER looks back! Well actually it goes a little differently but that’s like how they put it on the back of the book. Anyway this was a really good book, it got me hooked on Alyson Noel who is a good author. Read this one pretty quickly!
