Storm Novelo, most likely to be liked and the center of attention wherever she goes, is a fake, hiding the emptiness that makes her quit everything she begins with such enthusiasm—including the blog. “Storm Rising” is a story about a girl who tries very hard to hide the fact that she is a genius. Storm Novelo, a high school Freshman, behaves very differently, depending who she is with: her friends or her parents. When she wakes up in the morning, she dresses in plain clothes. But after she leaves, she changes into bright, flouncy clothing and applies lots of make-up.
Her biggest fear is that people at school will find out that she is both smart and poor. Her three close friends, Grace Doe, Annie Lind, and Jasmin Fletcher (all characters from the other “Blog On” books) are the only students who know Storm’s secret.
Whenever Storm slips out some interesting facts, such as how many miles of nerves contained by the human body, she claims that she saw it on T.V. or read it in a book.
I liked this book because Storm finally decides to accept who she really is.
