Right from the get-go, Tina Wainscott's latest suspense novel had me perched on the edge of my seat. This story of a married woman pursued by a dangerous stalker moves at breakneck speed from the first sentence to the scary and satisfying ending. Don't miss this one!

I'm normally a Tina Wainscott fan, but this book was almost impossible for me to finish. I found nothing to like about the characters, and the main character (I refuse to call her a "heroine") was so mousy and non-confrontational that I despised her through the entire book. I had figured out the plot only a few pages in so there wasn't even any suspense. I had been looking forward to this book because I'm a fan of the author, but I was left frustrated and depressed after reading it. I hope Ms. Wainscott gets back on track for her next effort.

I normally enjoy this author a lot and while I found this book a decent read, it was hard to really get into it because of the characters.

Jonna and Rush (what's with these ridiculous names authors come up with for their characters?) didn't seem to have a brain between them. She's being stalked and is attacked several times, yet she doesn't tell him? She just continues to go about her daily business, knowing her stalker could show up at any minute and taking his physical/mental abuse whenever he does decide to pop into her bathroom or office. He's being manipulated by her supposed best friend and he doesn't think there's something fishy going on? It never seems to enter his mind to question this, or to ask Jonna why her supposed best friend would be doing this.

Mamu's identity was obvious from the start, and there was no suspense whatsoever since it was obvious what was going on with her and Dominic. The only "suspense" came from reading through to the end to find out how the bad guys would be stopped, but even that turned out to be pretty much what was expected.

This was a great premise for a book...I just wish the author would've chosen to use stronger characters and a bit more suspense because she could've had a five-star effort.

I really like this author and was very excited about this book, but had a hard time getting into it and staying interested. I have several from this author, this is the only one I didn't love.

People post on her blog ~ cheering, sharing, advising.Enter Dominic. An admirer of "Montene's Diary". Suave. Refreshing. Appreciative.Jonna speculates that Rush is cheating on her.Aching & torn up, Jonna accepts Dominic's request to meet in person.Damaged & feeling rejected, Jonna, is curious to see where the tête-à-tête goes.Nevertheless, she begins to have second thoughts as she decides to save her marriage; but Dominic has a different outcome in mind.Tina Wainscott really does an incredible job alerting readers about putting too much personal information on the internet.WHAT LIES ON SHADOW is must-read suspense. I could NOT put this book down.I just couldn't read it fast enough. As I reached the conclusion I found myself not wanting to come to the end & leave the characters behind.Although some of the twists are obvious, fans old & new of Tina Wainscott will appreciate this look at the dark side of blogging.
